HARD FOCUS Exhibition, Archive

Last November, Helen McGhie, director of Nightlight Darkroom curated HARD FOCUS, a photography exhibition exploring the physicality of photography, organised in order to celebrate the opening of Nightlight Darkroom. The exhibition attracted a busy audience, and was accompanied by the symposium ‘HARD FOCUS: The Physicality of Photography’, which was attended by over 60 people. Here’s an archive of all events:

HARD FOCUS is a group exhibition bringing together 11 artists who each examine the role of contemporary photography in the ‘expanded field’. A programme of events will accompany the exhibition, including HARD FOCUS: The Physicality of Photography a half-day symposium on Saturday 5th November bringing together artists and curators including Peter Kennard, Anna Douglas, Karen Harvey and Moira Lovell. The exhibition has been curated by artist Helen McGhie and is organised to celebrate the opening of Nightlight Darkroom, a new community darkroom space for artists and photographers. www.nightlightdarkroom.wordpress.com

In this half-day symposium, speakers will explore contemporary photography through poetry, critical debate and art discourse to creatively examining the position of tactile, physical images taking up space in a tech-complex, claustrophobic world.
